Recycling is the best means to start. Numerous people continue to discard glass and aluminum items in their normal garbage even though recycling is not that difficult today. In the US, it’s not difficult to locate a trash service that provides glass and aluminum recycling choices. Even with these available recycling bins, people are nevertheless apt to throw their glass and aluminum in with their regular trash. By taking an extra few seconds to wash the cans and bottles and put them in the recycle bin, you will be on the path to helping the Earth.
Newspapers are another item that overburden our landfill sites. Lots of people choose to put their old newspapers directly into their trash cans. However, you would be surprised at how many different ways you can reuse an old newspaper. You may not realize that newspapers are wonderful for cleaning windows. While a lot of people use paper towels and window cleaner, you can get better results with your newspaper instead of paper towels, because you will not have those tiny white flakes all over your windowpanes and no streaks. A few community groups hold regular paper drives. Simply collect all of your old newspapers, stack them together, and call to see if the paper drive groups will drive to your housecome to your housego to your house and pick them up.
If you are looking to take one easy step toward green living, walk more. Lots of people will go out, turn on their car for five or ten minutes, and drive a couple of blocks to the corner store to get bread. If you merely walk to the store, not only could it take less time, since you won’t have to try and find a parking place, but you will be saving money on gasoline and helping to save Earth by not burning those fuels.
If you are looking to save even more on fuel, take the chance to car pool when you can and simply mow your lawn twice a month instead of every week. I realize that nearly all people preferr to have neatly manicured lawns but waiting another week between mowing won’t make a lot of difference. And if you really wish to help planet Earth, see if you can obtain one of those old mechanical lawn mowers that cuts the lawn with the whirling blades. You can still find these types of mowers in a number of hardware stores.
Once people resolve to try living green, it’s not hard to make a couple of lifestyle modifications that will benefit planet Earth. Get on the Internet and you will get a wealth of good information on this topic.
