Every one knows that water stores a great deal of energy. We all know about the potential energy that is stored by dams in reservoirs and used to produce electricity. This is a simple concept in which gravity pulls the water down into turbines that turn electrical generators. While this is a very effective and cost efficient method to produce electricity, it does have its draw backs. Such as if there is a drought the water behind the dam might run low, rendering it incapable of turning the turbines. In addition wild life habitat is flooded and thousands of acres of Real State are submerged forcing many people to move.
But the technology to use the chemical energy in water has been around for over 100 years. The electrolysis effect was discovered in 1800 by William Nicholson and Anthony Carlisle. With this process they were able to separate water into its basic components of hydrogen and oxygen.
